The Brief

For London Design Week, delivering a standout presence in a space as design-led and detail-focused as the Chelsea Design Centre requires more than just a beautiful concept, it demands precision, persistence, and serious behind the scenes coordination.

To manage the full implementation of a bespoke exhibition stand for our client during London Design Week, ensuring the design vision was executed flawlessly, on time, and in line with strict venue and contractor requirements.

“First there and last to leave. Pretty impressive to your stamina. Also the end result is there with an amazing stand. Thanks for all your hard work. It was a pleasure working with you”

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

London Design Week
Stand Installation at the Chelsea Design Centre

The Preparation: Detail, Paperwork & Planning

Before a single piece of furniture arrived, there was a significant amount of groundwork to be done. The Chelsea Design Centre operates with detailed processes, meaning:

  • Multiple forms, permits, and compliance documents needed to be completed and approved

  • Close coordination with in-house contractors to align and build schedules, access times and logistics

  • Careful planning around deliveries, storage, and installation windows

This stage was all about precision, ensuring everything was signed off well in advance to avoid delays onsite.

Design Collaboration

Working closely with the client, we refined the stand design to balance visual impact with practicality. Every element was considered, from layout and flow to how visitors would interact with the space.

This collaborative process ensured the final stand not only looked exceptional but worked seamlessly within the constraints of the venue.

Sourcing & Furniture Production

To bring the design to life, we managed the outsourcing and production of custom furniture, ensuring each piece met the required aesthetic and quality.

This included:

  • Liaising with specialist makers to produce bespoke items

  • Overseeing timelines to ensure readiness for installation

  • Managing the collection and delivery of furniture to site in line with strict access schedules

Onsite Execution: First In, Last Out

Installation days are where everything comes together, and where experience really counts.

We were first to arrive on site, overseeing initial access, deliveries, and coordination with the venue’s in-house teams. Throughout the build, we managed:

  • Contractor timelines and workflow

  • Placement and styling of furniture and design elements

  • Troubleshooting any last-minute challenges quickly and efficiently

And as always, we were the last to leave, ensuring every detail was finished to the highest standard and ready for opening.

The Result

A beautifully executed, fully compliant exhibition stand that reflected the client’s vision and stood out within one of London’s most prestigious design environments.

The Takeaway

Exhibition stands may look effortless, but behind every polished finish is a huge amount of coordination, communication, and commitment. From paperwork to production to onsite delivery, every step matters.

At Events by Charlie, we don’t just design, we deliver. Showing up first, leaving last, and making sure everything in between runs exactly as it should.
